Varna Holidays
All inclusive holidays in Varna
The town of Varna, dubbed “the Gem of the Black Sea” is a large, historic town on Varna Bay. Boasting superb bathing beaches and beautiful historic architecture, the area is one of the top choices for travellers booking last minute breaks on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.
UK families normally book all inclusive holidays at the nearby resorts of Golden Sands and Albena, two of the top resorts in Bulgaria. However, Varna itself is a popular base for family holidays, with long sandy beaches and the multiple family attractions of Seaside Park to add interest.
The balmy summer temperatures make the beaches around Varna ideal for family holidays, while out of season last minute breaks are popular with culture lovers wanting to study the architecture, galleries, museums and spas of Varna and St Constantine. Whether you book family breaks here to stay on the beach, or to explore attractions like Kamchiya nature reserve, Aladzha monastery and Balchik Royal Palace, we at Future Travel recommend this area.
Cultural last minute breaks in Varna
Take your family holidays out of season, and you’ll have a city full of history and culture to yourself. Anyone booking all inclusive holidays at the spa hotels along the coast will have the benefits of luxury pampering treatments a fraction of what they would pay at home. Varna is a spa town and a long weekend of balneotherapy treatments could be just what you need to banish the gloom.
The 19th century Church of the Assumption is one of the largest in Bulgaria, while the Evksinograd palace, once a summer residence of kings and tsars, is reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles. It is located in a magnificent landscaped park and gardens.
Ancient Varna
The Roman spa, although in ruins, is the largest ancient building in Bulgaria. However, this is swamped by the Varna halocline necropolis. Discovered in 1972, it dates from 5000 BC and proves there was an advanced civilisation in Bulgaria at this time. Finds included over 3000 golden tools, spread among 200 burial mounds. It is thought to be the oldest cultivated gold ever found.
