Torremolinos Holidays
Great last minute breaks to Torremolinos
Torremolinos is a large, purpose-built resort, 10 miles (16km) west of Malaga on the Costa del Sol. Renowned for its low cost, last minute breaks, Torremolinos has miles of sandy beaches, year-round sunshine and a heady mix of shops, bars, nightclubs and restaurants, making this resort popular for all inclusive holidays by people of all ages.
Torremolinos is equally popular for family breaks and 18 – 30 holidays. Not all the accommodation is located near the nightclub district - there are all inclusive holidays aimed specifically at families and couples, sited well away from the noisier areas but with easy access to the town.
Torremolinos is largely a modern resort. However, it has a charming and unspoilt harbour, and there are excursions to the breathtaking cities of Granada and Ronda.
Family breaks on the beach
Torremolinos family holidays are invariably centred on the beaches. As well as sunbathing you can paddle and swim to your heart’s content in safe, shallow waters, or take part in a number of water sports like scuba diving and kite-sailing.
The two most popular beaches are Playamar and Bajondillo. Both have watersports activities, and there are plenty of bars and cafés on the promenade. If you want a respite from the beach, the nearby water park of Aqualand makes for a great day out.
Shopping and dining
The Calle San Miguel is an attractive pedestrianised shopping area offering everything from international fashions to local crafts. For souvenirs, look for jewellery, leather goods and Lladro porcelain.
For those taking self-catering family breaks, there are plenty of supermarkets and local grocers, as well as sangria bars and restaurants serving everything from cod ‘n’ chips to traditional Spanish cuisine.
Torremelinos is not known for the peace and quiet of its last minute breaks – but it’s easy to get away from it all. Take a wander to the relatively unspoilt harbour area of La Carihuela, and you will find some superb seafood restaurants and buckets of traditional Andalucían charm. 10 miles along the coast, Puerto Banus has a chic, cosmopolitan marina and numerous high class restaurants and shops.
Out and about
Family holidays aren’t complete without at least one excursion. Horse lovers should visit the El Ranchito equestrian show, famous for its choreographed dressage displays and beautiful Andalucían stallions. The Palace of Alhambra, in the ancient city of Granada, is a must, and no-one will forget the dizzying view from the Puente Nuevo stone bridge, spanning the El Tajo river gorge at Ronda.
We at Future Travel have all inclusive holidays and last minute breaks at Torremelinos throughout the year, and thoroughly recommend it for anyone wanting a holiday that is action packed both day and night.
