St Kitts Holidays
All inclusive holidays to St Kitts
The Caribbean island of St Kitts is the larger half of the twin island nation of St Kitts and Nevis. Its mellow beauty, shared equally between the beaches and the mountains, is unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean, and its relative obscurity means the beaches are often deserted, even in the height of summer.
St Kitts is perfect for all inclusive holidays, making it the most popular holiday booking type for this destination. In recent years, many larger resorts have sprung up, offering affordable last minute holidays in accommodation ranging from self-catering apartments to all inclusive hotel resorts.
Despite this, St Kitts has remained unspoilt. There are plenty of opportunities to leave the resort hotels behind and mix with the locals, or visit the national parks of the beautiful interior. At Future Travel, we have a choice of affordable last minute breaks to St Kitts, offering a wealth of things to do.
What to do on St Kitts holidays
All inclusive holidays at St Kitts tend to concentrate on the beaches to the south and on the peninsula. Frigate Bay is crowded with resort hotels and apartment blocks. On the west side, the lively beach bars duel soco beats till way past midnight.
For a quieter time, head to the Northwest. Here you will find sleepy sugar plantations – many of which have been converted into tasteful holiday complexes.
Brimstone Hill, St Kitts
Last minute breaks should include a climb to the 18th century Brimstone Hill Fortress, in the Brimstone national park. A Unesco World Heritage site, the park is stunningly beautiful, and the perfect setting for one of the largest forts in the Caribbean. The hill is named after the sulphurous fumes that escape from it from time to time – it is actually a dormant volcano, one of a line which forms the backbone of the island.
The cannon lined Citadel offers dramatic views of Sandy Point – the nearest town - and Sint Eustatius. Inside is a fascinating museum outlining the island’s colonial history. A further walk will take you to Monkey Hill, which has a gift shop, restaurant and a small theatre showing documentaries of the island’s wildlife and history.
St Kitts all inclusive holidays aren’t complete without visiting this bustling town. Here, you can mingle with the islanders at the market stalls, or admire the historic colonial buildings. Wander down to the docks, and you can view the cruise-liners coming in. The harbour has numerous chic shops aimed at American tourists - but remember to do your duty free shopping before the crowds disembark!
