Last minute holidays to Sardinia

The beautiful island of Sardinia is perfect for singles, couples and family holidays. Boasting crystalline white sands and azure blue seas (often tinged pink by flocks of flamingos) it’s a perfect place to book relaxing last minute breaks, at any time of year.
Nature lovers will find the island breathtaking, with mountain walks that take you through ancient villages and herb-scented meadows. The island is studded with over 7000 prehistoric towers, called nuraghes. Unique to Sardinia, they are today an emblem of the island. There are numerous other, equally well preserved ancient monuments to see – Sardinia has over 6000 years of history.

Why take family breaks in Sardinia?

An island overflowing with history and culture, with magnificent mountain scenery and miles of unspoilt beaches, what is there not to like? 125 miles west of Italy, it has remained remarkably picturesque in spite of its tourist industry.
Sardinia isn’t a place to go if you enjoy a party-type atmosphere. This makes it perfect for family holidays and those who enjoy the quiet life on their last minute breaks. The all-encompassing choice of accommodation ranges from all inclusive holidays in purpose-built complexes, to self-catering in picturesque country cottages. The nightlife is quiet and restrained, although for those wanting last minute breaks with a livelier atmosphere, the Costa Esmeralda has a more cosmopolitan feel, and plenty of bars and entertainment.

Where to book all inclusive holidays in Sardinia

The island’s capital, Cagliari, has a bustling modern port melded with a fascinating old town, with Spanish and African influences. The island is a former Spanish colony, reflected in much of the local cuisine. There is a fascinating archaeological museum, while just outside the city are Phoenician and Roman ruins.
The town has a spectacular sandy bay, with modern complexes offering all inclusive holidays in apartments and hotels. A wide range of water sports is available, making this resort perfect for family breaks with older children.
Alghero is a pretty harbour town with a dramatic fortress. The town has a charming marina lined with palm trees, and is an excellent base from which to explore the island’s prehistoric monuments.

Holidays that combine action with culture

Sardinia bristles with sandy coves and rocky inlets, offering every beach activity you can imagine. The beaches at La Maddalena National Park are particularly breathtaking.
Watersports enthusiasts book last minute breaks here in their droves to take advantage of the sailing, windsurfing and diving possibilities, while culture loving family groups head for the hills and explore the ancient ruins.
We at Future Travel recommend last minute breaks in Sardinia to anybody, old or young, who wants the holiday of a lifetime.
