Last minute breaks in Santorini

Santorini has been called the most beautiful of the Greek islands – yet it was created from the volcanic destruction of another island.  In recent years, it has worked hard to promote itself as the quiet, picturesque side of Greek family holidays and last minute breaks suitable for all.

Santorini’s beauty is well recorded in the stunning movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. It boasts churches, monasteries, museums and traditional villages. As well as peaceful family holidays, the island is a Mecca for professionals booking last minute breaks for its picturesque views. The Caldera, formed during the first volcanic explosion all those years ago, has one of the most spectacular views in the world.

At Future Travel, we offer all inclusive holidays at many of Santorini’s top resorts.

Where to book last minute breaks in Santorini

Fira, the capital, was once almost destroyed by an earthquake, but has rebuilt itself into a thriving town. Tourists book family breaks here in self-catering apartments and boutique hotels, to enjoy the bustling shops, bars and nightlife as well as the nearby beaches and views of the Caldera.

Pyrgos, the island’s original capital, is one of the prettiest places on the island. Boasting a Venetian castle, 33 monasteries and churches, museums and galleries, it is a popular choice for last minute breaks, especially at Easter, when the town comes alive with lanterns and scented herb wreaths.

Oia is a pretty cliff top town, nestling under the Caldera. If you are booking at the last minute, breaks in this town offer peace and quiet seclusion. The narrow winding streets are lined with jewellery boutiques and craft shops, while a climb to the top of the Caldera yields magnificent sunsets and views of the island.

All inclusive holidays at Santorini

Firostefani, next to Fira, is a popular choice for family holidays. Despite being within walking distance of the capital, it is a quiet resort with just a few good restaurants. Families book all inclusive holidays here because they get the best of both worlds: a quiet beachside holiday, and all the benefits of the vibrant nearby capital.

Monolithos is highly popular for all inclusive holidays, with beautiful beaches and shallow waters. Quiet, but with plenty of spa hotels and water sports, all inclusive holidays here are both luxurious and affordable.

Kamari, rebuilt after the earthquake, is a vibrant resort with fabulous beaches. It has bars, hotels, shops and restaurants as well as some interesting churches. Arts lovers book last minute breaks here for the yearly jazz festival.

At Future Travel, we have family breaks and all inclusive holidays in Santorini resorts all year round – why not take a browse?
