Protaras is a beach resort that’s tailor made for family holidays. Accommodation is centred on hotels, villas and large holiday “villages” offering all inclusive holidays at very reasonable rates – especially in the low season.  Although small, the town is packed with things to do, and there’s an ample selection of tavernas, shops and restaurants for those who are self-catering. The stores here tend to cater for a cosmopolitan European crowd, but more traditional Cypriot gifts and produce can be purchased from neighbouring Paralimni.
Although the hotels are geared towards family breaks, they lay on plenty of evening entertainment. The larger ones have bars, discos and clubs with resident DJ’s and live bands. For a really wild time, you can easily take a bus or taxi to Ayia Napa.
Whether you choose a hotel or villa for your family holidays, there is a full range of excursions on offer, including trips to traditional villages, the capital of Nicosia and the beautiful Troodos Mountains. Most all inclusive holidays include excursions as part of the package, but you can also book tickets in town.

Protaras is renowned for its softly shelving beaches and clean, tranquil sea, making it ideal for family breaks with young children. As well as outstanding scenery the larger beaches feature a range of water sports including diving, paragliding, fishing, boat hire, caving and water skiing.
Most of the big hotels offering all inclusive holidays have spas, leisure centres, pools and private beaches. The major resort areas are Fig Tree Bay (renowned for its evergreen beauty and dark blue waters), Konnos Beach, Sandy Bay, Kepparris beach and Pernera. All offer a full range of activities in beautiful surroundings. There are also many smaller inlets and hidden coves, ideal for taking quiet family holidays away from the crowds.
