Family holidays in Portugal
As one of the smallest countries in Europe, Portugal is a friendly and charming destination for all sorts of family holidays and last minute breaks. Many hotels in Portugal are friendly and family run and booking all inclusive holidays is the preferred option for many holidaymakers.
The Algarve is known world-wide for its stunning golden beaches along with the contrast of quaint farmhouses and lush green countryside in the northern part of the country.
Last minute breaks to Portugal are highly popular because the country has great weather throughout the year. Portugal borders Spain with the Atlantic Ocean which lies to both the south and west of the country. The weather is warm and has a Mediterranean climate which is sunny most of the year with mild winters and the north of the country is directly influenced by the Gulf Stream.
Albufeira is a particular popular area in Portugal with family holidays as it offers many long and golden beaches. Faro is also a popular area for family breaks and it is a little quieter than the areas of Lisbon and Albufeira.
