History of Paphos
During the time of Alexander the Great, Paphos was the capital city of Cyprus with a thriving port and is said to be the place where the goddess of love Aphrodite rose above the waves and crashed to the shore. There are a number of museums in Paphos celebrating its history.
A popular place to visit, the Tombs of the Kings is linked to the 4th century BC and is entirely carved out of thick, solid rock and Doric pillars.
