Menorca Holidays

Menorca - A Coastal Paradise

Menorca is an excellent choice for anyone looking for family breaks and last minute holidays.  Just a few hours away from the UK and with more beaches than its neighbours Ibiza and Mallorca combined; this island offers a family-friendly, relaxed and scenic getaway for families.  Due to a lack of long sprawling coastal roads and being protected by UNESCO so that the usual eyesore of high-rise tourist development has been prevented, you can find some beautiful hotels and villas to stay.
If you have teens in your group who have a bit of nightlife on their ‘to do’ list you will struggle unless you stay near Cala en Porter down in the south of the island.

Family Focused Accommodation

The perfect time to head for your family holidays in Menorca is in May and September.  It is usually warm enough in April and October too but the summer months are likely to be too hot and extremely busy.  Winter time brings with it rain showers which on the positive side has given Menorca its rich green landscapes.  In mid-June you can experience the Menorcan fiesta celebrating San Juan in Ciutadella.  The star attraction is a show of medieval horseback sports.
You’ll find a great selection of family-focused hotels in Menorca and plenty of opportunities for all inclusive holidays where activities and entertainment is included.
Punta Prima lies in the south east coast of Menorca, just 15 minutes from the airport, and is one of the most popular resorts in Menorca with its array of local shops, bars and restaurants.

Exploring Secluded Coves and Picturesque Bays

You can get a bird’s eye view of the island at Monte Toro which stands between Ciutadella and Mahon.  At the top you can visit the church and convent.  At the foot of Toro, be sure to take time to stop at the bakery to sample a delicious ‘crespell’ or ‘amargo’ pastry.
There are plenty of beautiful secluded coves to discover and explore.  On the north coast you can visit the dreamy fishing village of Fornells.  This idyllic village is famous as King Juan Carlos chooses to yacht there from Mallorca to enjoy the summer lobster feasts.  The delicious local lobster stew called caldereta de llangosta is worth trying.  There’s a great selection of water sports here due to the large bay.
You can experience the bay from another angle by hiring motorboats or sailing boats.  There is cheap bike hire available, water parks such as Los Delfines Aquapark to visit and pony treks to enjoy.
This beautiful island is a fantastic family retreat with great beaches and plenty of family fun.  For information on family holidays available contact Future Travel today where we can save you money on your holidays to Menorca.
