Kardamena Holidays

Kardamena for last minute breaks

This Kos resort has grown from a small fishing village into a thriving, commercial resort – yet last minute breaks to Kardamena still offer plenty of opportunities for relaxation. The beaches were made for family holidays, while the ancient artefacts will enthral older visitors.
Kardamena is equally suited to fun loving singles, culture-loving couples, or anyone looking for good value family breaks or last minute holidays.

Family holidays in Kardamena

We at Future Travel recommend Kardamena for couples or family breaks. It has everything from budget self-catering apartments to all inclusive holidays in beach hotels. The beaches are sandy and clean, offering a range of water sports as well as boat trips to the nearby volcanic island of Nisyros.
Younger families can play happily on the sand or take out a pedalo, while older teens will enjoy jet skiing, snorkelling and banana boat rides. The main beach at Kardamena can get busy in the height of summer - Banana Beach and Sovereign Beach are only a short distance away, and offer a similar range of water sports, with much shorter queues.
Kos seems to have a celebration for every week of the year. Book last minute breaks in the height of summer and there is the Kardamena White Bait Festival. In the spring, you have the traditional Greek Easter celebrations. Kos enjoys warm temperatures all the year round, so last minute breaks for the Easter festival means cheap fun plus less searing heat for the little ones.

Cultural breaks in Kardamena

Book your all inclusive holidays here, and you are surrounded by history. Excursions to Kos town centre and Rhodes can be arranged by the tour operators, with Kos town being especially rich in ancient artefacts.
There is also lots of ancient history on your own doorstep. Take a leisurely breakfast at one of the many tavernas in town, and then head for the Temple of Apollo or the Greek theatre, to get a feel of Kardamena as it once was. In the village are several early Christian basilicas, after which you can go shopping for iconic souvenirs in town – there are plenty of locally made crafts, among the more commercial imports.

Shops and nightlife

There are a large number of English style pubs and restaurants, and a wide range of nightspots in the town centre offering an eclectic mix of music. Kardamena has an active night scene, but it’s never going to become another Ibiza.
The village has a wide range of shops and cafes, meaning those taking self-catering last minute breaks are spoiled for choice. There are grocery stores, supermarkets and cheap, family-friendly restaurants catering for all tastes.
We at Future Travel recommend Kardamena for anyone wanting family holidays, last minute breaks or all inclusive holidays with plenty of variety.
