Jersey Holidays
Taking last minute holidays in Jersey
The Channel Island of Jersey makes a fantastic place for family breaks and last minute holidays. The unique blend of French and British influences, stunning countryside and fantastic beaches mean people book last minute breaks here time and time again.
We at Future Travel have great deals on family holidays in Jersey throughout the year. Whether you want to relax on the beaches or have an action packed holiday exploring the island’s history, you’ll have a great time.
Where to book last minute breaks in Jersey
The majority of last minute breaks and all inclusive holidays are taken at the resort hotels of St Helier. The island is heavily protected against development, and there are no sprawling resort complexes to spoil the beaches. However, this is no bad thing – the island covers a compact 45 square miles and is easily reached by car or bus.
Outside St Helier, the countryside is unspoilt and picturesque. You will see the winding lanes of “Bergerac”, open fields and glasshouses, country estates, prehistoric sights and signs pointing you to the famous Jersey Zoo.
Jersey is a great place for self-catering family holidays. Pick your own tomatoes, buy some Jersey Royals off the farm and say hello to the docile, doe-eyed Jersey cattle. Once back in town, treat yourself to a Jersey ice-cream soda - a deliciously wicked treat!
Driving to your next destination
Car hire in Jersey is cheap and readily available. However, many of the smaller roads are “Green Lanes” with a top speed of 15 mph. This is for the benefit of walkers, cyclists and horse-riders, so many people stick to the main highway – and miss out.
Cyclists book last minute breaks here with their bikes. However, cycle hire is available from St Helier, and with 96 miles of cycle routes to choose from it’s a healthier option to the car. La Corbiere, with its distinctive lighthouse, marks the end of the south coast off-road cycling track and makes a lovely day ride.
Excursions on Jersey family holidays
Jersey has 45 miles of coastline, with some of the finest beaches in the British Isles. Choosing one depends on what you want to do. St Brelade's, Havre Des Pas and Gorey are great bases for family holidays, with miles of sand and full resort facilities. St Brelades also has a water sports centre, as do St Ouen's, St Aubin's Bay, La Haule and Grouville.
The little fishing ports of Rozel, Bonne Nuit and Bouley Bay offer picturesque walks and superb seafood. Rozel is particularly picturesque; between here and St Catherine are the three delightful coves of Fliquet, Saie Harbour and La Coupe.
