Hammamet Holidays
Family breaks in Hammamet
Whether you are booking last minute Christmas breaks or next year’s family holidays, there has never been a better time to visit the Tunisian resort of Hammamet. This tiny fishing village has grown into Tunisia’s premium resort, attracting budget tourists and luxury travellers alike for all inclusive holidays and last minute breaks at all times of year.
Hammamet is a resort of contrasts. The sweeping beaches, year round sunshine and beautiful landscape ensures family breaks are available throughout the year, mainly taken as all inclusive holidays at the hotels and apartment blocks lining the seafront. The town has plenty of old world charm as well, centred on its bustling medina (market place).
Once populated by millionaire playboys and the “arty crafty” set, today’s Hammamet is very much orientated towards last minute breaks and all inclusive holidays. The high-end, luxury hotels have relocated to the purpose-built resort of Yasmine Hammamet, 10 km to the south. This means “Old” Hammamet is full of good quality hotels offering cost-effective all inclusive holidays to European and British families and couples alike.
Booking last minute breaks in Hammamet
Holidays here are best avoided during July and August, as Hammamet is scorching hot and depressingly humid at this time and mainly populated by Tunisian families and sun-loving child-free Europeans.
However, there are plenty of bargains for those taking last minute breaks outside the heat of summer. May and October are the best months for beach holidays, and both flights and accommodation are cheaper then. This means holidaymakers can enjoy exotic, all inclusive holidays on a budget – and still go home with a tan.
Things to do in Hammamet
Most family holidays are centred on the beach, and the Gulf of Hammamet has some of the best in Tunisia. Many of the hotels have their own private beaches, although most of the water sports, such as windsurfing and water-skiing, are open to all. Some all inclusive holidays offer extras, such as diving or sailing tuition, as part of the deal. If you want to escape the crowds, hire a boat or car and explore the wilder terrain beyond Yasmine Hammamet.
Last minute holidays aren’t complete without a visit to the market. Hammamet has shops and craft workshops galore, but the medina is the real attraction, with its 15th century Kasbah and attractive covered souk selling everything from belly-dancing costumes to live chickens. The Grand Mosque is nearby, though you won’t be allowed in unless you’re a Muslim – one of the few rules the otherwise relaxed Tunisians are strict on.
At Future Travel we have fantastic deals on last minute holidays and family breaks in Hammamet – that are just a click away from becoming reality.
