All inclusive holidays and more in Gozo
The tiny island of Gozo is just 20 minutes from Malta by ferry, and offers a truly unique experience. Book all inclusive holidays here, and you are immersed in culture, beauty and serenity.
Gozo’s landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, making the island a magnet for walkers, who book last minute breaks out of season to enjoy the wildlife and historical sites. Book family holidays in the coastal resorts, and you have picturesque fishing harbours vying with rugged cliffs and mysterious caverns. Venture inland, and you’ll find stone windmills, ancient citadels, baroque churches and archaeology spanning thousands of years. This is the island of Calypso, the beautiful nymph of Homerian legend, and you can feel her presence wherever you go.
Where to book holidays on Gozo
Most people book all inclusive holidays at coastal resorts like Zebbug, Gharb, Kercem and Gozo port. There are some superb hotels overlooking the sandy bays of Xwejni and Mgarr, while those who prefer self-catering family breaks can choose from beachside apartments, villas and traditional stone farmhouses.
The charming 17th century capital of Victoria is a little way inland, but an excellent base from which to explore the island. Bristling with historic landmarks, it is dominated by an ancient Citadel and is perfect for cultural family breaks.
Those booking family holidays on a budget should avail themselves of the rickety buses that traverse the island – cheap, and exhilarating! Hiking and cycling are other options, with car hire for the less actively minded.
Things to do on Gozo last minute breaks
As well as superb sandy beaches, Gozo has some of the best snorkelling in Malta, especially at Ramla Bay. Even if you book last minute holidays at the height of summer it’s uncrowded, and for those on family holidays the little ones can play on the striking red sands while older siblings dive for Roman treasure. Calypso’s Cave is close by, as are the picturesque villages of Xaghra and Nadur.
Marsalforn is the most popular resort on Gozo, equally popular with both local families and visitors from abroad. A stroll along the marina is a national pastime, and the beaches are superb. Book all inclusive holidays here in the winter months and you can chat to the local fishermen as they repair their nets in the harbour. Don’t forget your camera!
Gozo has literally hundreds of historical sites. The prehistoric temple of Ġgantija is particularly impressive, and one of the oldest buildings in the world. There are numerous museums, churches and fortresses to explore, dating back thousands of years.
We at Future Travel cannot recommend our last minute breaks and all inclusive holidays on the beautiful island of Gozo highly enough. It holds something for everyone, young or old.
