Faliraki Holidays
Faliraki for memorable holidays
This popular resort on the Greek island of Rhodes, is popular for both family holidays, and singles and couples wanting a good time. Just 14 miles from the capital, tourists book last minute breaks in Faliraki for its four mile stretch of sandy beach, as well as its nightlife and sports facilities.
The resort has every kind of water-based activity you can think of – carefully contained in two water sports centres, so little ones on family breaks can play and paddle in safety. There is plenty of sheltering parasols and sun-loungers on the beach, for the sun worshippers.
Family holidays on the beach
There are numerous quiet beaches away from the resort centre. The picturesque Kathara Bay is unspoilt and quiet, though people planning to take family holidays here should be aware it has a thriving nudist beach at one end! Anthony Quinn Bay is so-named because the late, great actor filmed Guns of Navarone here, while the unspoilt Traganou beach is just one of several hideaways between Faliraki and Lindos – famous for its archaeological sites.
All inclusive holidays in Faliraki
Choose between all inclusive holidays in the purpose built hotels, or self-cater in the villas and apartments. Faliraki is bristling with bars and clubs and gets noisy at night, so families should choose accommodation in the hotels on the outskirts.
If you get fed up with the beach, make for the watersport centres. Here, you can take banana-boat rides, go bungee-jumping, ride pedaloes and much more. The resort also has one of Europe’s biggest water parks, with thrills for visitors of all ages. Keen snorkelers should head for the quieter beaches, where they can go scuba diving in crystal clear waters.
Shopping and dining
Those booking last minute breaks as a self-catering option will find everything they need in Faliraki Square. An excursion to Rhodes town will give you time to explore the cobbled, mediaeval streets, and afterwards you can shop for souvenirs. Locally made leatherwear, crafts and ceramics are all good buys.
Faliraki has a good selection of restaurants, mainly geared towards young clubbing tourists. However, there are plenty of tavernas serving traditional food, and what the resort lacks in fine dining it makes up for in value. Fast food bars abound, but here it means souvlaki, rather than KFC. Those booking all inclusive holidays in the more exclusive hotels out of town will be rewarded with some of the best cuisine on the island.
We at Future Travel thoroughly recommend Faliraki. Whether you are booking family holidays on the beach, or last minute breaks for the bars and clubs, it’s a resort to suit everyone – even Zorba enjoyed the experience!
