Costa Teguise Holidays
Take last minute breaks to Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise has only recently been developed into a holiday resort, but it is already a leading choice for family holidays. Its small size and intimate appeal has also made it a popular resort for couples, who book last minute breaks here in preference to the more commercial Puerto del Carmen.
Like all of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise has a blanket ban on high rise developments, so booking all inclusive holidays here means low rise apartments and tastefully laid out, family-friendly hotels, centred on pleasant squares lined with bars, restaurants and tasteful souvenir shops. The three beaches offer superb, safe swimming conditions and a wide range of activities.
If you are thinking of taking last minute breaks on the fascinating volcanic island of Lanzarote, we at Future Travel can’t recommend Costa Teguise highly enough.
Family holidays with plenty to do
The beaches all offer superb sun-bathing and swimming in sub-tropical conditions. Playa de las Cucharas and Playa Bastian are the best known, offering superb views and clear, crystalline waters.
The sand is gritty and volcanic, but still diggable. Water sports include sailing, windsurfing and water skiing, while nearby are some of the best surfing beaches in Europe. There is also a golf course and water-park just outside the resort, as well as cycling and hiking trails. The neighbouring resort of Puerto Calero has boat trips and even submarine excursions.
Out and about
Family holidays are never complete without an excursion to Timanfaya National Park, although you may prefer to rent a car to enjoy it to its fullest. Lanzarote was obliterated by a series of earthquakes in the 19th century – prior to that, it was lush and verdant. Today, you can eat a barbeque cooked on top of the island’s slumbering volcano, and cast an eye over the transformed, lunar landscape.
There was not one volcano, but several, and anyone booking last minute breaks here should include a visit to La Cueva de los Verdes, one of several natural caverns that were formed as a result. Other excursions include camel trekking, jeep safaris to the Arabian style interior and visits to Teguise market and the ancient capital of Arrecife.
All inclusive holidays in Costa Teguise are low-key, and although the resort has a few bars and discos, most people prefer to relax with a cooling drink and enjoy the blanket of glittering stars decorating the sky. If you are looking for banging party music and loud bars, Costa Teguise isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for laid back last minute breaks with family appeal, then we at Future Travel can’t recommend our family holidays in Costa Teguise highly enough.
