Costa Almeria Holidays
Last minute holidays to the Costa Almeria
The Costa Almeria consists of 200 miles of scenic Spanish coastline, and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The climate is ideal for all inclusive holidays; although the Costa Almeria lies close to the African coastline, the resort areas are sunny and mild, the heat reserved for the inland desert.
The beaches can be very busy. However there are also coves, quaint fishing villages and isolated bays to discover, meaning last minute holidays to Costa Almeria can be as hectic or as relaxed as you like.
At Future Travel, we have holidays in Costa Almeria throughout the year.
Cultural last minute breaks
Most people head straight for the beaches. However, it’s worth visiting some of the historical sites too. Almeria has been settled for thousands of years, and everywhere you look there are traces of Phoenician, Roman and Spanish culture.
Almeria has a unique African feel, courtesy of the Tartessos, who were drawn here centuries ago, bringing their culture with them. Today you can see this influence in the churches, houses, cuisine and craftwork.
Places to visit on Almeria holidays
People with young children probably won’t want to stray too far into the interior, as it is far hotter and more arid. However, excursions to Europe’s only true desert region, at Tabernas, are worth taking. This village has doubled for Old Mexico in numerous spaghetti western movies!
To the east, you can visit the Cabo de Gata-Nijar natural park. This rocky area, with its lunar landscape and rugged, dramatic coastline, attracts nature lovers, hikers and rock climbers throughout the year. The peninsula ends in a dramatically perched lighthouse – even all inclusive holidays to Costa Almeria aren’t complete without taking a trip to the peninsula for a photograph of the dramatic sunset.
Where to take holidays in the Costa Almeria
At Future Travel, we cover all the most popular resorts on our last minute holidays. Almeria town is brash and lively by night, although it is picturesque and fascinating by day, meaning our family holidays are normally taken in the resorts to the east and west of the town.
Mojacar, Roquetas de Mar, Aguadulce, El Ejido, Vera Costa and Retamar offer all inclusive holidays with beaches, marinas, health clubs, water sports and excursions. Yet they are still close to the picturesque streets, shops and harbour of Almeria town.
Almeria is worth visiting for the citadel – a huge Moorish castle that dominates the town. The mosque was sadly destroyed in an earthquake, but it was replaced by the beautiful 16th century cathedral we see today.
At Future Travel we can show you the beauty of this area in full, with hundreds of bargain all inclusive holidays, last minute breaks and family holidays on the Costa Almeria.
