Cala Bona Holidays
Holidays in Cala Bona
Cala Bona is a small, scenic resort in the east of Majorca, just north of Cala Millor. It has just one small beach, but makes up for this with a charming town square overlooking a picturesque fishing harbour and marina. Its seclusion and close proximity to the beaches of Cala Millor make it a popular base for family breaks.
Last minute breaks in Cala Bona are ideal for those who don’t want a beach-focussed holiday. The winding streets of the town are lined with quaint bars, shops and restaurants. Nearby are golf courses, horse-riding and caverns to explore. All this makes Cala Bona very popular for British family holidays, as well as couples seeking peaceful last minute breaks.
Where to book family breaks in Cala Bona
The resort is built around a picturesque fishing port, and all inclusive holidays are mainly taken in family run 3-star hotels or aparthotels. The hillsides are sprinkled with rustic villas, or fincas which are sometimes rented out for family holidays.
Cala Bona also boasts several 4-star complexes, offering all inclusive holidays with pools, air-conditioning and a full range of evening entertainment.
Things to do on family breaks in Cala Bona
The bustling neighbouring resort of Cala Millor is within walking distance, and has everything you could wish for in the way of amusements, with splendid golden beaches armed with a variety of watersports. Land-based activities include go-karts and paintballing. It also boasts bars, shops, restaurants and nightclubs.
Cala Bona is quiet by comparison, although it has a few good local bars, some of which have live entertainment. Older couples come here for the golf – there are 3 full size courses, and one mini-golf course in the area.
For the active family, holidays aren’t complete without a trip to the safari zoo at Sa Coma. Budding cowboys should check out Rancho Willy’s trekking centre. Beginners are well taken care of, with gentle trekking across the beaches, while experienced chieftains can experience exhilarating Western style gallops – with a follow-up campfire barbeque.
There are two unforgettable excursions to Cuevas de Hams and Drach Caves, one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island. Drach is a massive complex of lakes and caverns, with a massive central lake. Once there, visitors are treated to the unforgettable spectacle of a live classical concert, given by musicians on the water.
We at Future Travel recommend our last minute breaks in Cala Bona to anyone wanting a “get away from it all” holiday that isn’t too far from the action of the busier resorts – or the natural attractions of this beautiful island.
