Cairo Holidays
Last minute breaks to Cairo
If you want a city that’s rich in history, spices and tradition then you can’t go wrong booking last minute breaks in Cairo. History, because it has 7000 years of it, is recorded in its museums, temples and ancient monuments. The spices and tradition go together – in the market stalls, restaurants and terraces. Yet there’s a vibrant modern culture, too – one that blends seamlessly with the past.
We at Future Travel recommend all inclusive holidays or last minute breaks to Cairo to anyone who wants a glimpse of the real Egypt.
All inclusive holidays at rock bottom prices
Most people taking family holidays in Egypt head for the seaside resorts like Sharm al Sheikh. However, if you can take the crowds and traffic, Cairo has plenty to offer – especially for kids with an interest in ancient history.
Most people booking last minute breaks to Cairo, though, tend to be there for history, scuba diving – or have a deep interest in Egyptology, and this is where Cairo scores highly. If you want to know where all the treasures of the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings went after they were discovered – most of them ended up here.
Many book all inclusive holidays at one of Cairo’s many hotels. As a thriving centre of business and commerce – this is the capital of Egypt, remember – it is geared up for last minute breaks, and there are some great deals to be had.
Cultural family breaks in Cairo
Cairo today relies heavily on its tourism, and makes a fascinating and eye-opening experience for older children. Head towards the world famous Egyptian museum, and view some of the 136,000 exhibits on display – many more are hidden below stairs. Afterwards, you can experience a taste of modern Egyptian culture, at one of the many chic restaurants nearby.
Cairo has numerous modern shopping malls and arcades, offering everything from designer fashion to local crafts. For a taste of traditional Egypt, head for the Khan El Khalili. It is Cairo’s oldest shopping centre, dating back a mere 700 years. There are numerous specialist shopping areas – such as the rare book stalls at Ezbekiya, near Midan Opera – to explore as well.
Family holidays in Old Cairo
Cairo is divided by history, rather than geography. Most people booking last minute breaks head for Old Cairo, or Coptic Cairo – settled in the 6th Century BC; it features many ancient Coptic churches, as well as the oldest synagogue in Egypt. There are ancient ruins nearby. The Islamic quarter holds similar treasures.
We at Future Travel recommend our all inclusive holidays and family breaks in Cairo for anyone who is fascinated by city culture, both ancient and modern.
