Skanes specialises in all inclusive holidays based around the magnificent (and largely private) beach. However, should you get bored with sunbathing there is plenty else on offer.  Most hotels have a regular bus or cheap taxi service to nearby Monastir, and also offer excursions to attractions like the ancient mosque of Kairouan, and the Roman amphitheatre at El Djem. Naturally, family holidays aren’t complete without the obligatory camel ride into the desert. 

Nearby attractions include the fantastic Moorish extravaganza of the Hotel Kuriat Palace. Whether you stay there or not the amenities are open to all, and even include a ski slope! Golf lovers will enjoy the amenities available at the Flamingo and Palm Links golf clubs, while on the beach there is a range of water sports including jet skiing, snorkelling and paragliding. There are also felucca (traditional sailing ship) cruises available or, for the less seaworthy, pedalo hire.
