City breaks in Tallinn
Tallinn is a unique Estonian town that is fast becoming popular with holiday makers. A city break in Tallinn offers a unique glimpse into a largely unspoilt Mediaeval landscape of cobbled streets, stone houses, monasteries and churches – or a chance to enjoy a vibrant modern city that rivals Helsinki for its chic cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Tallinn is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful, vibrant cities in Eastern Europe, and we at Future Travel are proud to be able to offer you affordable city breaks that allow you to discover it for yourself.
What to see on a Tallinn city break
Tallinn is a compact city that is easily toured on foot. The old mediaeval town offers a fascinating glimpse of a bygone age, while in the modern town centre there is a vibrant and sophisticated mix of shops, bars and night clubs. A city break in Tallinn has something for everybody.
Tallinn offers superb city breaks both summer and winter. Christmas is particularly picturesque with snow, lights, candlelit markets and delicious festive fare.
A spa city break
Tallinn offers high value accommodation of all kinds, from small family boutiques to large all-inclusive spa hotels. At Future Travel, our affordable city breaks allow you to experience Tallinn in style – and get healthy at the same time.
Estonia is renowned for its spas. Tallinn has several day spas for visitors, while the acclaimed Georg Ots Spa Hotel, on the beautiful island of Saaremaa, offers spa breaks to both residents and non-residents.
City breaks aren’t complete without a visit to the Wheel Well in the Old Town. Its other name is the Cat's Well, and is a reference to the days when cats – and other animals - were thrown down the well to keep the evil water spirit happy. Apparently, this ensured the town continued to receive “drinkable” water!
Cultural city breaks
Tallinn has numerous churches dating from the 11th century onwards. Several of the most impressive were built in the early 18th century, including the Russian Orthodox Lady of Kazan, the oldest wooden building in the city. Kaarli Church, built of Estonian limestone, houses one of Eastern Europe’s largest church organs, and an impressive wall mural.
Tallinn was heavily bombed during WWll, and the new town offers a startling contrast to the 14th century fairytale turrets of Old Tallinn. Dubbed “Estonia’s Helsinki,” modern Tallinn has numerous chic shops, bars and restaurants.
Tallinn has something for everyone. At Future Travel, we will be happy to discuss your requirements for our city breaks to Tallinn and other European cities.
