City breaks in Paris

You may not instantly think of Paris as the ideal destination for family holidays but it is a great city where children are warmly welcomed.  The centre can be negotiated easily with little ones and the Metro is a clean and handy way of negotiating the city.
The food in Paris is outstanding and restaurants are child-friendly.  There is a wide array of eating choices so you’ll find plenty of child pleasers in the form of omelettes, ice cream, hot chocolate, crêpes and croissants.  After sampling the delights of steak-frites and taking in the sights of the Seine you can even treat the family to a trip to Disneyland – c’est magnifique!

Paris – An All Year Round Delight

Paris is worth visiting at any time of the year for last minute holidays but it can be particularly hot in August.  At this time of year the locals migrate to the sea or countryside so there are fewer locals.  If you choose the summer months to visit then you can cool down on Paris Plage which is a temporary beach that is constructed from mid-July next to the Seine.  There are palm trees and loungers to help you enjoy the shade.  This attraction is growing year-on-year but a favourite for family holidays is next to Châtelet where your children can enjoy a kid’s area and baby changing facilities are available.  There’s lots of entertainment to be enjoyed here.

Another idea is to visit La Piscine Joséphine Baker, a swimming pool that floats on the Seine.  The pool is open all year but is a great experience in summer when the roof retracts.  It has a boat shaped structure and is made out of wood, metal and glass.  Kids love the large paddling pool and there is a sauna and spa for the adults in the group.

Celebrate Bastille Day

An exciting day to be on holiday in Paris is 14th July, Bastille Day when the whole of France celebrates the surrender of the Bastille in 1789.  In the capital you can see fireworks and concerts of the best quality.  On the day there are impressive military displays to see and a stunning firework display at the Eiffel Tower.

A visit to The Louvre is also a great day out but perhaps more appropriate for older children.  However from the Louvre you can saunter straight into the Jardin des Tuileries complete with carousel, sculptures and donkey rides.

There are last minute holidays available at a range of accommodation options in Paris from all inclusive holidays to self catering packages and many different activities to suit everyone in your holiday group.  For more ideas on where to stay and what to do, contact us at Future Travel.
