City breaks in Milan

A city break in Milan is the perfect chic, cultural European experience. City breaks here introduce you to sophisticated fashion glamour at chic shopping centres like the Galleria and Quadrilatero d'Oro, while the stylish Corso Como district is lined with fashionable bars, nightclubs and restaurants.
But a city break in Milan isn’t all sophisticated fashion and glamour. There are numerous cultural treats of a different nature, such as the Duomo cathedral. And there are dozens of museums and galleries housed in beautiful Renaissance buildings.
At Future Travel, we have a range of Milan city breaks available throughout the year, offering style, culture and value.

What to do on a Milan city break

City breaks here aren’t complete without visiting the Piazza del Duomo, Milan’s cultural centre. Dominated by the impressive Gothic Duomo cathedral, it has numerous beautiful marble Renaissance artefacts, as well as housing Europe’s most sophisticated shopping malls. Your first Milan city break should always include a climb to the top of the Duomo cathedral, which offers breathtaking views towards the Alps.
The Galleria is a swish assortment of top fashion names and sophisticated restaurants, with numerous designer names trading beneath its glass-roofed arcades. Close by, the Quadrilatero d'Oro rose to fame back in 1951; this is when Gucci arrived at Via Montenapoleone. Today, you can window shop design names from Versace to Armani – this is still Milan’s most exclusive fashion district.

Art and culture in Milan

Milan has art, history and culture wherever you turn. The Sforza Castle is crowded with Renaissance art and sculpture, and if you’ve ever wondered where Leonardo da Vinci's original “Last Supper” can be found – it’s at the Santa Maria delle Grazie church.
West of Via Montenapoleone, Brera has arty streets lined with intimate bars and restaurants. Nearby is the Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery. This is just one of many galleries, another being the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, home to the works of Caravaggio. To the South, the rustic canal quarter of Navigli offers an opportunity to watch modern artists at work.
Milan is famous for being the home of the La Scala opera house. The fascinating museum gives you an opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the costumes, instruments and interior of this beautiful building.  For historical artefacts, visit the Archaeological Museum, which is housed in an ancient monastery. Here, you will see how Milan developed from a monastic town into the sophisticated centre of fashion it is today.
At Future Travel, our city breaks in Milan are an affordable way to experience European culture both ancient and modern.
