City breaks in Krakow

Krakow is a fascinating city, full of culture and history. City breaks here are affordable and entertaining, with plenty to see and do. They are particularly good value at Christmas, when families take Krakow city breaks to the festive markets.
Christmas starts early in Krakow, meaning adults can enjoy the festivities before the schools break up. At Future Travel we offer Krakow city breaks throughout the year, and recommend them for anyone who loves culture and tradition.

Where to go on a Krakow city break

Inevitably, people book Krakow city breaks to explore Krakow Old Town, or Stare Miasto, which today is a World Heritage Site. Rynek Glowny is the largest town square in Europe, with no fewer than 47 important mediaeval buildings. The cobbled streets radiate off in all directions, lined with charming olde worlde shops, cafes and bars.
Rynek Glowny is dominated by the imposing gothic basilica of St. Mary's Church. Anyone taking a city break to Krakow is sure to be impressed by the resonant trumpet call that echoes hourly from the church tower.

A wander round Krakow’s streets

Krakow is a devotedly religious city, and city breaks aren’t complete without a wander round the countless Renaissance churches, gothic manor houses and town mansions. Krakow has many museums, outlining this cultural legacy in full.
Krakow was the Polish capital until the 17th century, and no city break is complete without visiting the magnificent royal palace of Wawel. Overlooking the River Vistula, it houses many Renaissance treasures.
One of the most unusual of Krakow’s modern artefacts is the Szkieletor, an unfinished 100m skyscraper near Krakow University. It is named after a character in a 1980s kids TV series!

Cultural city breaks in Krakow

Krakow is known as Poland’s Cultural Capital, with almost 30 art galleries and museums. The Muzeum Czartoryskich, Krakow National Museum and Academy of Fine Arts are three of the most visited.
As well as art exhibitions, Krakow also hosts live music and theatrical performances at venues like the historic Old Krakow Theatre and Krakow Opera House.
The Kazimierz Quarter was once the centre of Jewish culture in Krakow. Decimated during the Holocaust, today it is a sophisticated collection of bars, restaurants and night clubs. Here, live music can be heard every night – with the jazz bars a magnet for cool cats taking weekend city breaks.
Krakow city breaks can include excursions to poignant Auschwitz camp, Wieliczka salt mine and the National Park. At Future Travel, our city breaks in Krakow show you all this – and much more.
