City breaks in Dublin

A city break in Dublin is a wonderful way to explore Ireland’s culture and history – and equally good value for couples and families. A city break in Dublin makes a romantic honeymoon venue, as well.
At Future Travel we offer city breaks in Dublin throughout the year, in a variety of places. Many people book Dublin city breaks for its literary heritage. James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and Oscar Wilde all have strong links to the “Fair City.”
Dublin continues to have a strong cultural scene today, with theatres, art cinemas and classical music concerts. Dublin, of course, is the home of Guinness and there are numerous traditional Irish pubs where you can imbibe the “Black Velvet”. Otherwise, visit the pubs for their excellent food and live music scene. They are very different from the fakery of Irish “theme pubs” seen elsewhere, and a visit to one is an essential part of any city break.

Things to do on a Dublin city break

Dublin is a compact city, and ideal for short city breaks. As well as the numerous opportunities for live music and theatre, the Dublin docks make a fascinating wander – especially at night, when a Dublin Ghost Walk gives you the opportunity to see Sweet Molly Malone for real.
Dublin Castle is a fascinating look at the city’s past history, and the beautiful 16th century Trinity College is Ireland’s oldest university, and where many of Ireland’s most famous figures were educated. Dublin has a number of interesting galleries and museums, as well as excursions to the beautiful surrounding areas.
The oldest area of Dublin is The Liberties. It is bordered by the lovely St Patrick's Cathedral on one side and the River Liffey on the other, and is home to numerous antiques and crafts shops.

Temple Bar

All the short city breaks in Dublin we book at Future Travel tend to gravitate towards Temple Bar eventually. A vibrant and bustling district furnished with many of Dublin’s finest old buildings, it also features street entertainers, cafes, restaurants and the eponymous Guinness pubs.
However, there is another side to Temple Bar – vibrant modern night clubs totally at odds with the Dublin that visitors normally see.

Shopping on Dublin city breaks

Dublin has some first class shopping districts, ranging from the old shops of the Christchurch district to the modern stores of Dublin City Centre. Grafton Street is Dublin’s smartest shopping area, boasting several designer outlets.
At Future Travel, our Dublin city breaks are excellent value all year round. We will be happy to discuss our city breaks in Dublin with you.
