City breaks in Budapest

Budapest is a fascinating city. Bisected by the River Danube, it offers a vibrant and varied culture both ancient and modern. Cheap city breaks in Budapest are widely available, often in accommodation of a very high standard, and with over 1000 restaurants to choose from, you’ll never be hungry.
At Future Travel we feature city breaks in Budapest, this beautiful city, throughout the year, and it is especially good value for families as many of the attractions are either cheap or free.  Many city breaks in Budapest include excursions, giving you the opportunity to explore the beautiful Hungarian countryside, as well as Budapest itself. However, the real city gems are often those you find by striking out alone.

Things to see on short city breaks in Budapest

There are several “must see” sights in Budapest, and most of them are free. Budapest is one of the best cities in Europe for a city break on a budget.
Start with a wander round the flea markets, where you can haggle over antique bargains with the traders. The covered market of Ecseri is particularly magical at Christmas.
Alternatively, escape the bustle by taking the chairlift to the János Hill lookout Tower, which is the highest point in Budapest. For culture vultures, the Communist Statue Park is a fascinating way to while away an afternoon. Alternatively visit the Roman remains at Aquincum - a fascinating look at how Budapest began.
All these places are easily accessible by public transport. Budapest has an excellent bus and underground service, making city breaks here even better value.

Thermal Springs and city parks

The majority of Budapest’s attractions are sited round Castle Hill, which has numerous museums, galleries, concert halls and Art Nouveau buildings. A Budapest city break is a culture lover’s paradise, with a packed arts calendar throughout the year. There are also city parks, zoos, a circus and thermal baths, making Budapest a wonderful destination for budget conscious families.
Budapest is famous for its thermal spas (over 100 of them) and if you fancy a luxury city break there are two several historic, high quality hotels with thermal bath complexes.
The Gellért and Széchenyi Thermal Baths are beautiful buildings open to non-residents. Together, they comprise one of the largest and oldest thermal bath complexes in Europe. A Budapest city break in one of the hotels gives you the opportunity to live as the Romans did for a few days.
At Future Travel, we offer city breaks in Budapest all year round. We will be happy to discuss your requirements and suggest which of our city breaks would best suit your needs.
