Self Catering Holidays
Last minute breaks in self-catering apartments still remain one of the most popular holiday options for British travellers, despite the growth of all inclusive holidays in purpose built resorts. If you book last minute breaks in countries with a low cost of living, for example Greece or Bulgaria, you can save a substantial amount over the equivalent hotel package, especially If you shop where the locals do.
There are other benefits to self-catering besides low cost. For many its about flexibility, or taking their family holidays in a pretty, traditional villa rather than a featureless hotel. Self catering family breaks offer extreme flexibility, and are usually the best solution for those with small children – especially if they’re faddy eaters.
At Future Travel, a large number of our last minute breaks are of the self-catering variety. Some are in hotel complexes that also offer all inclusive holidays, giving you the same facilities, while others are in villas with their own pools. All of them offer exceptional value, especially if you are travelling in a large group.
Where to book self catering family holidays
Self-catering family breaks are available in hotels, villas, cottages and apartment complexes everywhere, although some places are more geared towards self-catering than others. For example, if you search for bargain last minute breaks in locations like Hammamet, Tunisia or Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, you will invariably be led to all inclusive holidays in the hotels. Although there are plenty of villa rentals available, these tend to be private lettings, meaning prices will be much higher.
Many hotels offer great value, low cost self catering options, which will save a lot of money especially if you wouldn’t eat at every meal anyway or want to explore for a day or two out.
