May Bank Holidays
Last minute breaks in the May bank holidays
May Bank Holidays are a great time for family breaks or last minute breaks for professionals and couples – prices are low and temperatures mild, giving holidaymakers the opportunity to visit exotic locations that would be too hot, expensive and overcrowded in the peak summer months. Early May sees May Day Bank holiday – great for a few days away. At the end of May we get half term, and the longer Spring Bank Holiday.
Whatever you’re looking at, be it all inclusive holidays on the beach with the family, or last minute breaks to a personal city retreat, we at Future Travel have a solution for you.
Last minute breaks for May Day
Officially, the UK only gets one day off for May Day (although many schools extend this with one, or even two, inset days) but a long weekend still means plenty of time for a city break. Last minute breaks to Amsterdam, Paris and Rome are beautiful at this time of year, neither too hot nor too busy.
Short family breaks are all about fitting in as much fun as possible. The obvious place for this is Paris. The May Bank Holidays are the perfect time to visit Disneyland, and taking the kids there now means the parents get the final decision on what to do during the longer, summer holidays!
Last minute breaks for the adults
Everyone needs a break from the office, so have a think about last minute breaks to the Renaissance cities of Rome, Florence or Venice. The latter can become very humid and overpowering during the summer months, so why not book in May?
If the kids are past the age of sand castles, then cultural family breaks are a great option. The sights are open, the crowds few and the climate pleasant enough to stroll in.
May Bank Holidays in the sun
Last minute breaks during the May Bank Holidays offer significant savings over the summer months. By May, the major resorts are open and geared up for the summer invasion, especially in Greece, where the holiday season begins at Easter.
For adults, booking all inclusive holidays for May Day week means full amenities, an early tan and the beach to yourself (Officially, schools go back on Tuesday – though if you do decide to take your little darlings for the whole week, we won’t be telling!)
By the end of May, temperatures are already soaring outside the UK. Late May Bank Holidays are the perfect time to book family breaks to places that are too hot, humid or expensive during the summer holidays. Tunisia, Egypt and the Canaries all have great deals on all inclusive holidays at this time.
